Strained Wire Fencing
Course Objectives
To enable course members to:
plan the line of the fence and decide the position of strainer, contour turning and intermediate posts
estimate the quantity of materials required for a specific fencing job
construct an adequate strainer post assembly of appropriate dimensions
erect and strut turning and contour posts
erect and strain specific wire types safely and correctly to appropriate tensions
organise the fencing operation to minimise unproductive movement and excessive walking
This course can be run for either high or mild steel fencing, both plain wire or netting. However, different types of fencing should not be mixed on the same course.
Who is the Course For?
This workshop is designed for anyone who is responsible for the planning and erection of strained wire fencing systems, (with or without barbed wire)
Course Content
Introduction
Planning, equipment of tools
Removal of old fence, preparing site, layout of materials
Erecting strainer, contour, and turning posts
Running out and securing bottom wire
Erecting intermediates
Running out, securing and tensioning high tensile barbed wire
Finishing fence off
